WHAT OUR RESIDENTS AND THEIR LOVED ONES ARE SAYING

There are no words to properly capture this moment and how it is going to change my life, my family’s life, and my parents’ lives. I feel like an anchor is being lifted today as I now will have them close by and in a place that will support their aging lifestyle. It honestly feels like Chestnut Square was designed years ago with my parents in mind. Thank you for changing our lives.

- Marie L.

Living at Chestnut Square is like living in a top-rate resort, or on a cruise without the water. Best location, delicious food, and ample programs for one's physical, cognitive, and spiritual well-being. The place is impeccably clean. Kept us free of COVID-19 during the height of the pandemic. The food is healthy and delicious, staff are available 24/7, they are wonderful and go above and beyond my expectations.

I recently moved to Chestnut Square so that I can continue my independent lifestyle while still being close to family. From my first interaction, I was so impressed with how people are treated with a sense of humanity. As a new resident, I was welcomed into the community, which is friendly and comfortable. Within the first few days, both staff and residents greeted me by name. My apartment is a beautiful 1-BR with a den which is perfect space for me. When I need assistance, the staff goes above and beyond to help me with anything I need. The services provided like transportation to shopping and doctor's appointments, excellent diversified programming, and even a group for my favorite game, has made me feel right at home. The dining room and food service is wonderful. But it is the sense of welcoming that really stands out. I have met new friends and participated in some wonderful programming, including dancing on New Year's Eve. I was anxious about living in a retirement community but living at Chestnut Square feels like I am at home.

Really grateful we found this place—our mom loves it, and so do we. The staff is warm, friendly, and helpful—they all know all the residents by name. The ambiance is lovely; this feels like an upscale, Prairie Style apartment building. There's a full calendar of activities, and the staff clearly puts a lot of time and effort into ensuring the quality and variety of offerings, including holiday celebrations.

The staff of Chestnut Square—Vera, Megan, Michael, and Maria—always treat the residents like family. My mother-in-law has lived at the community for over 17 years. Yesterday was an example of their outstanding care. On her 100th birthday, they organized a fantastic birthday party and most of the residents attended. My mother-in-law was very touched, as well as the rest of the family. Outstanding people at an outstanding senior living facility. Thanks to all at Chestnut Square!

My family loves Chestnut Square at The Glen! My parents moved in about three years ago and everyone has made all family members feel welcome! With smiles when you walk through the door, to delicious meals served through the gorgeous dining room, my family feels this is home. With only three levels to the building, we feel connected to everything they have to offer starting with the veranda overlooking a beautiful view with a gazebo. My dad also loves the workout room, and they have a store to buy specialty cards. We have had a few small parties in a charming room (reminds me of a small Irish pub) for my Dad’s 87th B-day and my niece’s baby shower. My mom goes to work out classes 3 times a week and they have many art classes and things of interest for all…Most importantly, the people that work there are so warm, thoughtful and kind and make my whole family feel welcome every time we visit. I can wholeheartedly recommend Chestnut Square at The Glen to everyone wanting a very fine place to live!

We chose Chestnut Square three years ago because 1) The size was comfortable and not overwhelming like most of the places we researched; 2) The location in the beautiful Glen of Glenview was ideal. I am a walker and Elliot is a bike rider and there is a large park across the street and three shopping areas in walking distance plus the lovely streets of homes; 3) We were well treated at our initial contact and have continued to be so. We are able to choose our decor in our apartment refurbishing. Our two-bedroom apartment has adequate space for our living and dining furniture, the bedroom holds all five pieces, and the second bedroom is a comfortable den, TV, and computer room. There is adequate closet and storage space. The food has been excellent, ample, and beautifully served.

We moved my mother to Chestnut Square from Los Angeles so she would be closer to us as she aged. She has now been here over nine years and is really happy with her living situation. The employees are so kind, the social opportunities are abundant, and the programs have been both enjoyable and educational. I am thrilled that she has found friends with whom to share her daily experiences and has told me that these past years have made her really happy. We looked at five or six different communities before she came here and there's no doubt that she made the right decision when choosing Chestnut Square. As her daughter, I feel confident and comforted that someone always has her best interests at heart.

Great people! Great staff! Great food! We love having our mother here knowing she’s well taken care of and in a safe and friendly community.

- Paul and Elin K.

Chestnut Square has a great location near shopping and restaurants, the Glenview Park Center, and the Glenview Senior Center. The building and grounds are very attractive and well maintained, there’s a beautiful dining room with very good food, and the community offers discussion groups, card games, talks, entertainment and more. The residents are a diverse, interesting, and caring group, and we made many new friends here. Also, no more meal preparing, house maintenance, yard work or snow shoveling.

During these uncertain times, I found everything I was looking for at Chestnut Square at The Glen. When I toured, I knew I had found the right place. The staff was wonderful, the residents were welcoming, and every floor plan came with its own full kitchen and washer/dryer. I could also see that everyone there was very proactive with the pandemic safety protocols. I’m glad I didn’t put off my move. This May, I became an official Chestnut Square resident!

After we moved from our home in Chicago to Chestnut Square, we feel safer and happier. Life is a lot simpler now and our new apartment has a private patio next to the gazebo courtyard so we’re outside all the time! Because of COVID-19, there’s no escaping that things will be quite different for a while. But that’s going to be the case wherever you are. What’s important is knowing that we found a really nice community that’s looking out for us no matter what.

I know how difficult it is to move a parent and find the right place that's welcoming and vibrant. Chestnut Square is that wonderful place, the best of those we visited! My dad and family absolutely loved it there. This independent living community is in a perfect location, close to the shops, restaurants, and movie theaters of The Glen Town Center. The staff is really caring and responsive, while the building is beautiful and immaculate. The programs are varied and interesting….plus the food is always delicious. Partners in Healthcare, located at Chestnut Square, also offers outstanding caregiver services for reasonable fees. We highly recommend this wonderful community!

Chestnut Square has been home to our mom for six years and counting. The staff, residents, and facility are exceptional. This is a welcoming, caring and thoughtful community, where mom feels safe, comfortable, relaxed and engaged. Whenever we have a request for the staff, it's met with an enthusiastic solution. And when we visit, we're impressed with the first-name basis everyone has with one another, the genuine smiles on their faces, the friendly interest they take in one another, and a mood that feels like home where you immediately feel at ease with friends. Every senior should be so fortunate to live in a community as lovely as Chestnut Square!

I just wanted to let you know how well everything seems to be going for my mom. On her first day living at Chestnut Square, she received a beautiful plate of cookies from one of her neighbors and then had dinner with another six neighbors…followed by the guitarist sing-a-long which she loved! On her second day, she had dinner with seven others, followed by poker (which she also loves) and returned to her apartment at 9:30 pm! Last night, she had dinner with another new group and told me how much she enjoyed it. I'm blown away and it is a wonderful start. Mom feels safe, comfortable, social…all the things she was missing since my dad died. And I hear how really good the food is (and she is a tough critic!) Chestnut Square is a perfect fit for my mom. I couldn't have asked for a smoother or better transition…all the staff there is fantastic! Thank you!

Moving to Chestnut Square was one of the best decisions my wife and I ever made...our only regret is that we didn't do this sooner! There's always something new and exciting happening, the food is great, and we've never met a nicer group of people. When my brother saw how happy Mary Jane and I were, he decided to make Chestnut Square his new home also.
- Don K.

I wanted to find a place where I felt an instant connection with the people and the staff, and Chestnut Square gave me a warm feeling the moment I walked through the door. Living here has been great and I love all the activities and events that are offered. I've done more in 8 months than I have in the past 8 years.

Few things in life are as challenging as helping a parent select a retirement community. But few things will bring you more joy than seeing your parent happy and thriving in this new chapter of their life. Chestnut Square not only made our mom feel welcome, but it provides her with a loving and caring environment that inspires her to do new things with new friends. She loves everything about this place. The peace of mind that Chestnut Square has given me and my siblings is enormous. They not only met our expectations, but they exceeded them. We saw a lot of other options but this one just felt right from the very beginning. This was the best decision we ever made. Our mom is happy, busy and enjoying her new home!
- Frances F.

My mom and I toured many different retirement communities, but within 5 minutes of visiting Chestnut Square, we both knew this was the place for her. The staff were so welcoming, the residents were extremely friendly, the food was excellent and the apartments were clean and well-designed...We also liked how the financial plan combined the best of all elements from other nearby communities. Fast forward one year later and my mom loves being free from the burden of the house, the social aspect of Chestnut Square, and the strong sense of community...I came in for a visit recently and if I didn't know better, I would have thought she was 5 years younger!
- Larry G.

Since I've moved in, I've joined a golf league, play bridge in four different groups, and also go bowling...I can't tell you how many new friends I've made!
- Dorothy H.

It's wonderful having the support of Chestnut Square anytime you're not feeling well or might need a little assistance from time to time. Between the staff and the other residents, everybody wants to help and everyone is your friend. It's just a great place to be.
- Elinor E.

We wanted to find the best location, lifestyle and value, and that's why we chose Chestnut Square. Everyone we meet is friendly, the meals have been excellent, and we've got the Glenview Senior Center right across the street. We're really enjoying our new home.
- Clayton & Doris W.

My wife and I have been very happy with everything at Chestnut Square. Moving here was a great decision and we've made a lot of new friends. There's a lot of good people here!
- Jim C.

The community is appealing in so many different ways. The residents are friendly and energetic, and the staff are simply excellent. We also love the location...we can walk across the street and find great restaurants, shopping and walking trails!

- Glenn & Evonne G.

I've worked at Chestnut Square for over 10 years and the residents have become a special part of my family. Everybody is so nice...it's why I love my job.
- Maria L.

My mom felt at home the minute she walked in the front door of Chestnut Square. The residents are so welcoming and friendly. They want you to feel part of their community from day one. There are so many activities and excursions to choose from. Units are well maintained. There is formal dining every night and brunch on Sundays. It really has a great deal to offer, including a short walk to all the shops and restaurants in The Glen. My mom is safe, happy and close to her family now. I have Chestnut and the wonderful staff there to thank for that.
